Angel Amaya

Angel Amaya is a Mexican-American documentary filmmaker and media specialist from Corpus Christi, Texas. Angel has a BA in English from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a MA in Media Studies and Documentary Studies from The New School in New York, New York. During her Masters studies, she directed and produced two documentaries, 06 Female Wolf, and The World is Yours. The World is Yours premiered May 2016 in the Truth Be Told NYC film festival. She was an associate producer on the Showtime documentary film called Beyond the Opposite Sex (2018). She was also a producer on the award-winning documentary Elephant Keeper (2020). Angel has been the Communications Director of the Western Organization of Resource Councils since November 2018.

Massive actions to stop Line 3 construction in Native Anishinaabe territory launch "Summer of Resistance"

BEMIDJI, Minnesota — Massive direct actions to stop Line 3 tar-sands crude-oil pipeline construction here in Native Anishinaabe ancestral territory launched a weeklong Treaty People Gathering on June 7. Attracting an estimated 2,000 participants, the occasion was “the beginning of a summer of resistance,” according to Indigenous-led groups, communities of faith, and climate justice organizations hosting it.
